About Red Sea Discovery
As the saying goes, it's
not enough to talk the talk. One should also walk the walk. Exploration
diving is all about discovery, adventure, and glory, but it also requires
focus, training, and consistant dedication to excellence in diving practices.
Also necessary is a deep appreciation for the underwater environment, both
in terms of its relationship to divers, as well as the natural and man-made
treasures it contains. It is on this basis that Red Sea Discovery forges
its relationships, and pursues its underwater adventures.
Partners
-
Red Sea Discovery is closely associated
with Scandinavia-based Ocean Discovery.
Together the two organisations are paving new roads in training and exploration
in the Red Sea, most notably with the SS
Maidan expedition, scheduled for January 2007.
-
Close ties have been forged with Global
Underwater Explorers. GUE is a unique organisation at the forefront
of diver training, and so it is logical Red Sea Discovery should cross
paths with it. One noteworthy result of RSD's cooperation with GUE was
the April 2005 GUE
ITC, hosted at Marlin Inn Dive
Center, Hurghada.
Environmental Protection
Red Sea Discovery is an active
member of these societies:
-
The
Abu Salama Society is dedicated to the protection of marine mammal
populations in the Red Sea, with very successful projects underway along
the southern Egyptian coast.
-
HEPCA
is one of the oldest NGO's in the Red Sea and has made huge contributions
to environmental protection in the Red Sea, including the installation
of mooring lines on Red Sea reefs.

History
As "technical" diving grew in Egypt,
The Red Sea Discovery team found that many divers were bumping up against
a hard wall, not of actual human limitations, but rather due to the performance
limitations of their training, skills, and procedures. As underwater horizons
expanded, so did the quest for finding and identifying the procedures and
tools that would allow the team to safely continue pushing the envelope
of exploration, both in the Red Sea and beyond.
Red Sea Discovery promotes effective
and safe diving practices, all the while backing it up with real exploration
efforts. As the skills and knowledge base grows (both that of the organisation
and that of the community it supports), the possibilities of carrying out
new expeditions and embarking on new adventures, seem only to increase!
